Rabbi Seth Sternstein, Principal YJCHebrewSchl@optonline.net (914) 245-2663 Religious education at the Yorktown Jewish Center starts with our youngest and continues through elementary school past bar/bat mitzvah into middle and high school into adulthood. Our primary school
allows our children to meet and play and sing with other Jewish
children as they learn basic blessings, the Hebrew alphabet and the
rudiments of reading, Bible stories, our holidays, and more. Kindergarten dates: Will
be available Summer 2010 Our elementary school does much more than prepare students for a bar or bat mitzvah – we prepare students for a Jewish life. Our students learn to read Hebrew, lead services for the community, understand and appreciate the mitzvot, observe the holidays and Shabbat in a meaningful way, participate in Jewish music and art, and become connected with our history, culture, people, Torah, and the land of Israel. Hebrew High is open to 8th – 11th graders who want an opportunity to explore their Jewish world in a more sophisticated, mature way. Our focus is on how we live Jewish lives as young people fully engaged in the world around us. As we read, talk, and nosh, we explore our values, culture, and the modern State of Israel with enthusiasm. Feel free to speak to Rabbi Sternstein or Head Teacher Wendy Segal about what we do at the Yorktown Jewish Center. We’re proud of our school and our students and would love to discuss your child’s involvement in Jewish education with you. ![]() |
